The first heat wave of the year has recently caused powerful thunderstorms throughout Austria. Just in time for the weekend, the situation calms down again and remains mostly dry. In the coming week, however, the next heat wave is already in the starting blocks with up to 35 degrees.
Friday will be somewhat unstable. In the north and south, showers and partly heavy thunderstorms will occur repeatedly. The wind will be light to moderate. Nevertheless, the daily highs can climb up to 31 degrees.
Sun and clouds will alternate again and again on Saturday. However, no rain showers are expected throughout Austria. Especially in the east and south, it will remain sunny throughout. The wind will be light to moderate. Temperatures between 24 and 29 degrees are expected until the afternoon.
On Sunday, dry weather will continue. Spring clouds, which will form over the Alpine peaks in the afternoon, will remain mostly harmless. The day will also start sunny further east and southeast. In the morning, temperatures will rise to eleven to 17 degrees. Later, temperatures rise to 31 degrees, with Vorarlberg and Tyrol experiencing the warmest temperatures.
Hot and humid weather continues across Austria on Monday. In the afternoon, thunderstorms can then occur around the main ridge of the Alps. The daily highs will be between 27 and 35 degrees. However, temperatures will drop by the evening in the far west.
Tuesday will start with a mix of sunny spells and dense clouds. Especially south of the main ridge of the Alps, but also in the southeast and on the eastern edge of the Alps, frequent rain showers and thunderstorms are expected. The wind will be light to moderate. Nevertheless, up to 32 degrees can be reached by the afternoon.
